Deception Creek June 15,2014

Posted by on Jun 15, 2014

After sleeping at the end of another obscure forest service road, bird songs began mixing with deep REM sleep sometime in the wee hours of the morning. Another crescendo of rain drops played on the roof of our space vehicle, gradually giving way to mountain mist and roaring creek waters at 3000 feet, deep in the womb of Mother Nature.

We started up Deception Creek trail at 820am. Trip report: The heavens intermittently misted, drenched and warmed us over the course of the next six hours in our round trip to Three Mile Camp. Only one small patch of snow remained at the camp. We ate our lunch on a gravel bar next to the creek, reached via a short bush whacking carefully navigating juvenile devils club fern.

As an acupuncturist and a meditator for much of my life, my hobby is energy: What is it that aligns body, mind, and spirit in the most auspicious, harmonizing, and beneficial configuration for one’s own life, and all living beings? During the week, I place tiny pins along the body’s meridian lines with care and intention, moving the energy where it is stuck and nourishing it where it is weak. In a few years hence, I may use verbal inquiry and listening skills as a psychotherapist to serve the energy needs of beings via another modality.

Yet always I am and will remain humbled by the vast energy wisdom present within an intact earth ecosystem – all elements – earth, fire (sun), water, wood, metal – intact, undisturbed, fully charged. A human – or any creature – only need dwell in such a place for a brief period to experience and be charged by the primeval intelligence innate to wild places. May we protect these last remaining wild places on our planet from the forces of greed and ignorance. May we take our children there often – so we and they can be healed as a family and bring this healing energy back to our larger family – the community, the circle of all life, sharing this energetic message which cannot be grasped in mere words, but can be vibrationally attuned to.
